Fruits of a tree belonging to species P.armeniaca are called apricots. Apricots are yellowish brown sweet tasting fruits mostly grown in lands with consistently cold winters and short dry springs. World’s top apricot producing countries are Turkey, Uzbekistan, Iran, Algeria and Italy

Apricots origin country is China. This fruit is eaten fresh, cooked (jammed), dried or canned. Apricots are rich sources of sugar and vitamin A and dried apricots contain high amounts of Iron. The ideal harvesting period is very short. If the fruit is totally green its flavor is acerbic, and if it is overripe, it is too soft to handle​​​​​​​
